QUESTION:...IF THERE IS NOT A SPACE WAR GOING ON, WHY IS THE UNITED STATES EVEN THINKING ABOUT FIRING AT ALIEN CRAFT?

That they can prove themselves to the Aliens .
That they can prove their POSSIBLE powers to the Aliens .
That they might possibly attain more specimens for the purpose of study and experimentation.
That they might possibly gain more Technology for the purpose of study, experimentation, or usefulness.
